Stone of the Year: The Moonstone

Hall B4.EG.134

As its name giver is in constant change, so also the moonstone shows the most diverse facets, depending upon the light. The stone is a variety of the orthoclase from the group of feldspars and is often used for jewellery. Cut to cabochon, the coveted bluish-white sheen of this gemstone comes most impressively to the fore.
